Each year in Ireland there are between 5,000 and 6,000 cardiac arrests, that's on average 18 people per day! Approximately 70% of these happen in the home, at work or during a leasuire pursuit in the presense of family, friends, collegues or strangers.
A victim of cardiac arrest outside out a hospital environment has a 1% change of survival. This is because people with CPR skills and the use of an AED are not widely available. It's abundantly clear from the above statistics why it is so important to learn this life saving skill.
